Our Approach
Economic Empowerment
We promote self-sufficiency through vocational training and business development.
Housing & Healthcare
Every family deserves access to housing and healthcare. We work with Guatemalan professionals and missionaries to provide health education.
Education
Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. We offer Guatemalan children opportunities and scholarships to build brighter futures.
Community Building
We organize community events and support local organizations to create a sense of belonging and hope in underserved Guatemalan communities.
We light up people’s homes (literally)
Project Spotlight: Electricity for the Perez Family’s New Home
Guatemala is a land of stunning beauty, rich culture, and vibrant communities. But, it's also a place where many families struggle to access basic necessities such as education, healthcare, and basic housing needs. In May 2022, MayoGuatemala Foundation purchased all of the needed materials for the Perez family (to the left) to install electricity in their new home.
We provide healthcare to everyone
Project Spotlight: Stephanie’s Dream on Wheels
To the right is Stephanie Vazquez Alonso, a special needs child whose parents dreamed of having a stroller to help move her around. In May 2022, MayoGuatemala Foundation made that dream a reality by purchasing her a brand new stroller.
We give the sound of hope
Project Spotlight: Hearing Aids for Kimberly and Cristofer
Kimberly and Crisfoter lived in a world of silence due to being hard of hearing. Thanks to the intervention of the joint effort between the Carmelite Missionaries, Dr. Byron Villeda, and MayoGuatemala Foundation, Kimberly and Cristofer had the opportunity to begin to recover their hearing. Dr. Byron Villeda gave them free medical exams and in January 2023, they received free hearing aids.
